Spanger Spotlight Volume 5

 Quote of the Week:

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”

Principal's Message:

Happy Friday!

My heart goes out to all the families impacted by the Mosquito Fire. We may all know family or friends that are dealing with this unfortunate event. Thank you for understanding all the indoor recess due to air quality.

As you know, safety in RCSD is a top priority and we will be doing frequent drills throughout the year to help our students practice. We will be practicing an evacuation drill (Fire Drill) on Wednesday. The students have already completed one this year and did a great job! If you have any questions regarding safety or drills, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Enjoy the weekend!

In partnership,

Mr. Kikosicki

Did you know Spanger offers breakfast before school from 7:20-7:40? It is open to all students and will be served in the multipurpose room. There is no charge for breakfast or lunch for any student. Our school-wide behavioral expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible will be followed while students are having breakfast. Please see the link below for both our breakfast and lunch menus.

I wanted to share this amazing resource I just found out about called BrainFuse which is a pilot led by the California State Library that provides live, 24/7 online tutoring and homework help in every K-12 subject.

The following is an excerpt from the press release from the Governor’s office regarding this program:

Real-time homework assistance can now be accessed 24/7 here and on the websites of any of the 1,130 local public libraries around the state – click on the “HelpNow” link to reach a one-on-one tutor. The pilot program led by the State Library offers assistance in Math, Language Arts, and other core K-12 subjects in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There’s no age limit to who can use the service. Adult learners can also access writing assistance, citizenship resources and other tools”.

I just tested it out briefly and was connected with someone via live chat in less than a minute!

Please let me know how your experience went.
