Spartan Spotlight Volume 9

 Quote of the Week:

"Act as if what you do makes a difference... it does"

Principal's Message:
Happy Friday!
We have been hard at work making plans to make this a great year for our students. We can use your help! Volunteers play an important and valuable role at Spanger. Students, teachers, staff, families, and the community benefit from the work of individuals like you who freely share their talents, resources, and time. Below are some ways that you can get involved at school. We are looking forward to seeing you around campus!

In Partnership,

Mr. K

There is still time to join the following leadership and community-building teams at our school! We would love to have you there!
  • School Site Council
  • Parent-Teacher Club (PTC)
  • English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
  • District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC)
School Site Council:
The School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees who work with the principal to develop, review, evaluate and allocate funds for school improvement programs. The councils are formed to make decisions about how state-allocated school improvement funds will be spent.

PTC:
Our PTC provides much-needed financial support in order for our students to get a well-rounded education.  PTC works very hard on fundraising each year to provide enrichment opportunities, technology support, library and materials support, and supply needs for all of our students. PTC also works diligently to bring families together with fun, family-focused events that help to bond our school community and families.
Ways in which to participate in PTC are…volunteer for events, being on the board, participating in meetings, being an Art Docent or Watercolor Docent, and/or providing feedback and support.

ELAC:

This committee is made up of parents of English Learners as well as other parents and shares responsibility for planning school programs.

The role of the ELAC is to advise the principal and School Site Council on programs and services for English learners. The ELAC acts in an advisory capacity. It is not a decision-making body, but it is the voice of the English learner community.

Specifically the ELAC:

  • Advises the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assists in the development of the school’s needs assessment and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Has representation on District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).

DELAC:

The Roseville City School District has a DELAC made up of representatives from School Site English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) members. This group meets four times a year and advises the district on a variety of matters relating to English Learners.

The purpose of the DELAC is to provide guidance and advice to the Board of Education and the District staff on the needs and services for English learners.

All DELAC meetings will be Zoom meetings until further notice.  The meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m.
