Spanger Spotlight Volume 3

 Quote of the Week:

"A chattering bird builds no nest"

-African Proverb

Message from the principal:
Happy Friday!
I wanted to mention some great opportunities to become involved here at Spanger. Our PTC, School Site Council, and classroom volunteers are all gearing up for a great year. Our first PTC meeting is on Tuesday the 6th (see below) and all are welcome. We are also looking for parents to serve on our School Site Council (see below) and to volunteer around campus.
Additionally, we had another great Friday of recognizing our students for being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful with prizes and otter pops!
Lastly, enjoy your three day weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Tuesday!

In partnership,
Mr. K

School Site Council

What is it?
  • The School Site Council (SSC) is an elected or selected group representative of the school’s staff, parents, and in secondary schools, students.

  • SSC is a leadership team on a school site that is involved in the development and review of the School Site Plan.

  • SSC is an opportunity to develop shared leadership

  • SSC is a way to educate members regarding school programs and categorical programs

  • SSC is an opportunity to improve communication between the staff and parents

  • SSC members are given the opportunity to understand how funds are allocated and used

Site's Process for Selection

If you are interested in being a School Site Council member, please complete the following:

1. Please email a “blurb” that introduces yourself and your reasons for wanting to be on SSC to Kkikosicki@rcsdk8.org

The interested parties will then be voted in by the community through a Google Form that will be sent to families.

A top priority at our school is student achievement and maximizing instructional minutes. Tardies and are a major disruption to the learning environment and student learning. Students miss the introduction and instructions to the day’s lesson. In addition, the learning stops while the tardy student settles into his/her seat. Please arrange to have your child dropped off a few minutes before the 7:45 bell each morning.
