Meet one of our new first grade teachers, Kate Linares

My name is Kate Linares and this year will be the start of my 23rd year teaching. Most of my teaching experience has been in Kindergarten and First Grade, and I am so excited to be joining the amazing team of teachers at Ferris Spanger Elementary School. I was born and raised in Sacramento, and have spent all but four years here. During those 4 years, I lived in Brooklyn, NY. It was a wonderful adventure with my daughters who were then 3 and 6. They are now 21 and 17 and it’s hard to believe how the time has flown by. We live in a little house in the old part of Lincoln and enjoy watching the Christmas and Fourth of July Parades as they go by our home each year. We can also watch the McBean fireworks from our backyard. In my free time, I like to read, watch K-dramas, listen to music, and learn Korean. It is challenging and I am very slow at it. I also enjoy working in my yard, and taking walks with my two dogs. One is a Jack Russel mix that is as ornery as a terrier can be and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that gets all the cuddles he can stand. I also like to learn songs on my Ukulele which I am a beginner at playing. I look forward to getting to know your child this year and partnering with you on their first-grade learning journey. We have such an exciting year ahead of us. I look forward to meeting you soon!
