Spartan Spotlight Volume 12

Quote of the Week:

"Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is the recognition that some things are more important than fear."
-Irshad Manji

Principal's Message:

Happy 50th day of school! As we strive to create an exceptional educational experience for our students, we understand the importance of involving parents and guardians in the decision-making process. Your insights and perspectives are invaluable to us, and that's why we invite you to join our school advisory groups.

Our school advisory groups serve as a vital bridge between the school administration and the parent community. They provide a platform for open and constructive dialogue, allowing us to work together to enhance our school's programs, policies, and overall environment. By participating in these groups, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Influence Decision-Making: Share your ideas and opinions on matters that directly impact your child's education.

  • Collaborate with Educators: Work closely with our dedicated teachers and administrators to support the school's mission and vision.

  • Improve Communication: Help us refine the way we communicate important information with parents and the community.

  • Enhance School Programs: Contribute to the development and improvement of various academic and extracurricular programs.

  • Strengthen Our School Community: Play a key role in building a sense of togetherness among parents, teachers, and students.

We currently have several advisory groups focusing on different areas, such as curriculum, safety, parent engagement, and more. Your involvement will allow us to address the unique needs of our school and ensure that your child's educational experience is the best it can be.

If you're interested in joining one of our advisory groups, you can express your interest by replying to me by email at kkikosicki@rcsdk8.org, calling our school office, or visiting our website for more information.

Your active participation will make a significant difference in our school's success, and we genuinely appreciate your commitment to our shared goal of providing the best education for our students.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to working with you as valued members of our advisory groups.

In partnership,

Mr. K

There is still time to join the following leadership and community-building teams at our school! We would love to have you there!
  • School Site Council
  • Parent-Teacher Club (PTC)
  • English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
  • District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC)
School Site Council:
The School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees who work with the principal to develop, review, evaluate, and allocate funds for school improvement programs. The councils are formed to make decisions about how state-allocated school improvement funds will be spent.

PTC:

Our PTC provides much-needed financial support in order for our students to get a well-rounded education.  PTC works very hard on fundraising each year to provide enrichment opportunities, technology support, library and materials support, and supply needs for all of our students. PTC also works diligently to bring families together with fun, family-focused events that help to bond our school community and families.
Ways in which to participate in PTC are…volunteer for events, being on the Board, participating in meetings, being an Art Docent or Watercolor Docent, and/or providing feedback and support.

ELAC:

This committee is made up of parents of English Learners as well as other parents and shares responsibility for planning school programs.

The role of the ELAC is to advise the principal and School Site Council on programs and services for English learners. The ELAC acts in an advisory capacity. It is not a decision-making body, but it is the voice of the English learner community.

Specifically the ELAC:

  • Advises the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assists in the development of the school’s needs assessment and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Has representation on District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).

DELAC:

The Roseville City School District has a DELAC made up of representatives from School Site English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) members. This group meets four times a year and advises the district on a variety of matters relating to English Learners.

The purpose of the DELAC is to provide guidance and advice to the Board of Education and the District staff on the needs and services of English learners.

All DELAC meetings will be Zoom meetings until further notice.  The meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Please contact me if you would like further information on any of the above groups!

As we continue to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our school community, we would like to kindly remind everyone of our parking lot expectations. These guidelines are in place to make drop-off and pick-up times as smooth and safe as possible for all students and families.

  • Safety First: Always prioritize safety when in the parking lot. Drive slowly, be mindful of pedestrians, use crosswalks, and follow all posted speed limits and traffic signs.

  • Designated Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones: Utilize the designated drop-off and pick-up zones and do not block traffic by stopping in unauthorized areas.

  • Stay in Your Vehicle: If you're in a drop-off or pick-up line, please stay in your vehicle. If you need to assist your child, please park in a designated parking spot.

  • Patience: We understand that drop-off and pick-up can be a bit hectic at times. Patience is key. We're all in this together.

  • Respect Staff and Volunteers: Our staff and volunteers are here to help make the process as smooth as possible. Please respect their directions and guidance.

  • Pull Forward: Stopping at the beginning of the traffic loop and not pulling all the way forward causes traffic jams. Please avoid this practice.

  • Follow Dismissal Times: Arrive on time for pick-up to ensure a smooth dismissal process and avoid unnecessary waiting.

By adhering to these parking lot expectations, we can create a safer and more efficient environment for drop-off and pick-up.

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe.
